Why get rid of this awesome product Hawaiian Tropic?!?! Why?!?!?!Apr 25, 2010
By Lauren Pros: helps you get a deeper tan faster, looks better on your skin, and smells better compared to all of the popular tanning oils you'll find in drugstores.
Cons: company probably doesn't make it any more so it's hard to find, it's a regular pump spray rather than the neat new continuous spray that Hawaiian Tropic makes.
I used this product constantly several years ago and LOVED it. As far as intensifying the tan I got, it seemed to significantly increase how much I tanned in a given time frame compared to other products. It also made my skin look better and my tan look deeper while I was actually wearing it much more so than other oils. The "glistening effect" is definitely at work but it's nothing dumb or "glittery".... it's actually pretty hard to explain, but it's similar to that very slight shimmer you find in some lotions nowadays. Added to the oil, it really made my skin look radiant.
I also greatly preferred the way it smells over similar oils. It's a bit fruitier, tropical and fragrant than most. It doesn't have that somewhat overbearing coconut scent that most oils seem to have today. Also important to note is that it isn't as oily as other products, which is a good thing. Other products make me feel like I have to spend some time in the pool or take a shower before getting dressed and getting on with my day, and I'm always afraid of getting it in my hair. This one... not so much.
Overall, it beat out every other oil I've ever tried, and believe me, I've tried them all from Hawaiian Tropic, Banana Boat, Australian Gold, etc...
Unfortunately it disappeared from shelves everywhere a year or two ago. Big bummer. The other day I realized that I could probably find it online, and here it is... HOORAY!
I'm ordering plenty because after some digging I really don't think Hawaiian Tropic makes it anymore, which is a crying shame because it's better than all of their current products. The only advantage that their current line has over this stuff is that they come in the convenient continuous spray bottles, which makes them a bit easier to apply than the pump spray. I'd rather pump away with a better product, though!!!!
